On Wednesday, 25th October 2023, Legacy Resources had the distinct honour of attending the Northern Ireland Veterans Awards, held at the iconic Europa Hotel in Belfast. This evening, organised by the incredible Jason Gillard, was an event filled with celebration, recognition, and pride, shining a well-deserved spotlight on the achievements of veterans and the businesses that support them. For us, it was a particularly special night, one that will forever hold a place in our hearts.

The awards ceremony itself was a stunning display of the strength, resilience, and dedication of Northern Ireland’s veterans and the businesses that are driven by their values. It was a privilege to be part of an event that not only acknowledged the incredible contributions of veterans but also celebrated the tremendous impact they continue to have on both the community and the business world.

A Night of Positives and Charity Support

The evening kicked off with a buzz of excitement as attendees from all walks of life gathered to recognise the hard work, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit of individuals and businesses who have gone above and beyond to make a difference. In addition to the awards, it was inspiring to see that the event also raised a remarkable £2,000 for charity, a testament to the generosity and community spirit that the evening embodies.

As Legacy Resources, we were absolutely thrilled to be part of such an incredible event, especially knowing that we were not only nominated for awards but had the opportunity to celebrate alongside so many others doing amazing work in Northern Ireland. The awards were an opportunity to shine a light on the tireless efforts of veterans in our community and to highlight the businesses that support their journey in the transition to civilian life. It was truly an evening to celebrate all that veterans contribute, both in business and beyond.

Nominations and Shortlist: A Moment of Pride

The excitement leading up to the event was palpable. Legacy Resources, a company that was founded with a clear mission to support and protect our community, had been nominated for an award in the Veteran Owned Business of the Year category. This in itself was an incredible honour, and being shortlisted for such a prestigious award filled us with pride and gratitude.

In addition to the company’s nomination, Richard Quirey, our Managing Director, had been nominated and shortlisted in two individual categories: Entrepreneur of the Year and Business Leader of the Year. As a company, we pride ourselves on the values of leadership, integrity, and a commitment to excellence, and for Richard to be recognised in this way was a testament to his tireless efforts, dedication, and strategic vision.

Having Richard and Legacy Resources shortlisted was a huge achievement in itself, as it highlighted the hard work we’ve put into growing our business, offering top-tier security services, and giving back to the community. But little did we know that this was just the beginning of an unforgettable night.

A Dream Come True: Richard’s Double Win

As the night unfolded and the awards began to be announced, we were filled with anticipation and excitement. The moment we had all been waiting for arrived when Richard Quirey was called up to the stage to accept the award for Entrepreneur of the Year. As if that wasn’t enough, we were overjoyed when Richard was also announced as the winner of Business Leader of the Year! To see him recognised in this way was a proud moment for all of us at Legacy Resources, and we couldn’t have been happier for him.

As a company with veteran roots, being honoured in this category felt like the ultimate validation of the mission we set out to accomplish when we first founded Legacy Resources.

Our team has always been deeply committed to supporting veterans and providing employment opportunities to those transitioning from military to civilian life. Being named Veteran Owned Business of the Year reinforced our dedication to not only providing top-tier security services but also supporting veterans in their professional journey.
